Dental X-rays have come a long way in the last few years. Most dentists have not gotten on board with this newer, better technology. Dental x-rays can now be taken digitally using sensors that transmit the images directly onto a computer monitor. Dexis sensors are more comfortable than traditional film because the corners are rounded and softer. The images are larger so the patients can see what the doctor sees. Since the images are in computer software, there are diagnostic tools available that aid in earlier detection of cavities. An important advantage to this new technology is that it reduces the amount of radiation by 90%. Digital x-rays are also faster. The digital image only takes one second to appear on the monitor. In addition, this new technology is friendly to the environment since no chemicals are needed for developing the image. CEREC is sophisticated computer-aided system for producing durable high-quality ceramic restorations. It is simple to use, fast and conserves the natural tooth. CEREC is ideal for patients who want an authentic tooth-colored alternative to amalgam or gold. In many cases, CEREC allows tooth restorations to be completed in a single sessions - without impressions, temporaries or long wait periods.
After examining the tooth and determining the course of treatment, we will prepare your tooth for restoration, similarly to traditional treatment methods. Your prepared tooth will be coated with a safe, tasteless powder. CEREC then uses a state-of-the-art digital 3D camera to create an optical impression. This digital image replaces the physical impression required in traditional procedures. No more long waits while a tray of impression goop hardens in your mouth.
While you wait, exact design specifications are sent to our on-site milling machine to create your restoration. About 15 minutes later, your all ceramic, color-matched restoration is ready for placement. Your new restoration is then fitted, polished and bonded for permanence. Your tooth is restored back to its natural form, function and beauty.
